Activities and Events at Schooner Cove

shoppingAt Schooner Cove, our residents enjoy:

  • Gatherings with friends.
Schooner Cove regularly hosts performances, readings, concerts, educational lectures, films, and member-organized clubs and interest groups. Birthdays and holidays bring our residents together to celebrate personal milestones, and evening cocktail hours on the dining room deck overlooking the Damariscotta River offer an opportunity to relax and enjoy the spectacular view among friends.
  • Personal growth.
Our residents choose to attend college lectures, arts and crafts classes, gardening or cooking clinics, book clubs, music lessons and much, much more—both at Schooner Cove and in Damariscotta and Newcastle. Our physical fitness instructor will help you set wellness goals, try new exercise programs, and check your progress at weekly wellness clinics.
  • Going out.
Because Schooner Cove is located in the heart of historic Damariscotta village, our seniors have all the shops, restaurants and scenery of one of Maine’s most popular tourist destinations right outside their door. A popular tourist destination that bustles with activities year-round, the Damariscotta region is rich in cultural and recreational opportunities. Our residents particularly recommend the Lincoln County Community Theater, the CLC YMCA, the Skidompha Library, the Damariscotta Farmer’s Market, Wawenock Golf Club, and any chance to sample the world-famous Damariscotta river oyster.

Further up the coast, our members enjoy scheduled transportation to the cultural offerings of Bath, Brunswick, Portland and other southern Maine communities, like the Maine State Music Theater, the Portland Museum of Art, Merrill Auditorium, Maine Maritime MuseumOwl’s Head Transportation Museum and Farnsworth Art Museum. Seasonal outings to golf courses, beaches, boat cruises or fall foliage excursions keep our members connected to the natural beauty of coastal Maine.

  • Giving back.
From mentoring or tutoring local youth to volunteering for the Damariscotta River Association or leading tours of the Twin Villages, our residents find that volunteering their time, experience and enthusiasm to others gives them more of all three.
